Contributors have chosen a film, or an aspect of a film such as a performance, style or theme, that they feel has been overlooked or underappreciated. Alternatively, they have chosen a film that is well known but for which they can offer personal insights, unique observations, or specialized information. The essays range from a few sentences to several paragraphs. The tone ranges from literary to conversational, humorous to scholarly, but the overall goal of City Secrets Movies is to share personal enthusiasm for film. A percentage of the proceed is donated to The Film Foundation, a leading nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of film. The Film Foundation was founded by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Francis Ford Coppola, and others.
